What is Stealth Mode?

Stealth Mode is a silent, duress-activated security response embedded within Double PIN Technology. It provides an additional layer of protection when a user is forced to unlock an application or authenticate under coercion.

Three ways to activate Stealth Mode

Users can trigger the protective response through a preset state, a reversed PIN, or a dedicated Stealth Mode PIN.

Preset in the App

Enable Stealth Mode proactively through the Double PIN application settings. Once active, subsequent authentication invokes the configured protective behaviour.

Useful when the user anticipates risk before accessing the application.

Reverse PIN Entry

Enter PIN 1 or PIN 2 in reverse order, such as 1234 becoming 4321, to provide a covert distress signal that activates Stealth Mode.

The interaction can appear normal to a person watching the user.

Dedicated Stealth PIN

Configure a unique Stealth Mode PIN specifically for initiating protective sequences while the application continues to present a believable response.

A separate trigger can support policies tailored to a specific risk scenario.

Authentication does not prove that a user is acting freely.

Most application security systems assume users have taken the necessary precautions and are not under duress. They may also assume that an authenticated session remains under the control of the same willing person.

The fundamental problem: a person can enter the correct credentials while being threatened, watched, manipulated or forced. Conventional authentication may accept the credentials without recognising the danger surrounding the user.
